What is the best video chat app right now?

It depends on how you like to talk. Our Featured picks are Kiss Live Chat (web + iPhone), Livego (iPhone party rooms with card games) and YOYO (iPhone, with real-time translation). For one-on-one video with strangers, Azar and LivU are the best-known names.

Which video chat apps work on iPhone?

Kiss Live Chat, Livego, YOYO, Azar, CR Video Chat (Chatroulette’s app), Paltalk, Camfrog and Wakie all have US App Store listings. LivU is an Android app (see livu.me); on iPhone, Monkey points people to its web version.

Are video chat apps free?

Most are free to download. Several, like Azar, LivU and Wakie, say the basics are free and charge for extras such as gender or region filters. We show a pricing line only when the app says something about it.

What is the difference between Azar and LivU?

Both offer one-on-one video chat with strangers, translation and paid filters. Azar has iPhone and Android apps and adds a Lounge of profiles; LivU’s official app is on Google Play. See our Azar vs LivU page.

Are these apps for adults only?

Yes. Every app we list carries a 17+ App Store rating or a Mature 17+ Play rating, and we only recommend them to adults 18+.

What does “Featured” mean?

Featured marks our three editorial picks shown first. Stars show our recommendation level, not user reviews.
