Apps like Omegle for iPhone and Android
Omegle was a website, and it closed in November 2023. If you are looking for an “Omegle app” today, you most likely want the same stranger chat on your phone. Here is what the real apps offer, based only on their App Store and Google Play pages and their own sites – we did not test them hands-on.
What changes when Omegle-style chat moves to an app
- Sign-in comes first on the apps we checked. Azar’s help center lists Facebook, Google, a phone number or Apple ID as sign-in options, while some browser sites – Chatroulette and Joingy, for example – say no sign-up is required.
- Adults 18+ only: every app on this page is meant for adults, and we only point people aged 18 and over to them.
- Filters often cost money. Azar says choosing who you meet by gender and region is part of its subscription; LivU sells optional in-app purchases for “more control over who you can meet”.
- Not every app is 1-on-1. Paltalk and Camfrog put you in topic rooms, and Wakie is voice-only – useful if the random camera was the part you did not like.
Closest to Omegle’s random 1-on-1 video
Chatroulette still runs the random video format; it says it was created in 2009, and its apps are on both stores. Azar was built as an app from the start and adds live subtitle translation. Device labels on these cards show only the website and store listings we could confirm.

What about Monkey?
Monkey also offers random video chat with strangers. Its own site says Android users can download its app and that iPhone and desktop users should use the web version – we could not confirm a store listing ourselves, so we list it with the websites rather than here.

LivU is distributed through Google Play (we found no official App Store listing). Its listing describes picking a region and tapping into a live video chat, plus real-time chat translation.

If you preferred rooms or voice over random video
Not everyone wants a random face – some people want a topic first. Paltalk and Camfrog organise video and voice rooms by subject; Wakie says plainly that it is not a video chat app and keeps everything to voice and text.

Before you install one
- Check the seller name on the store page (Hyperconnect LLC for Azar, CR Services AG for CR Video Chat, Paltalk US LLC for Paltalk) – a famous name in the app title is not proof of who made it.
- Read the in-app purchase list before you subscribe; prices appear in the store and inside the app, not on our site.
- Use the block and report tools the app lists, and never move a chat to another messenger at a stranger’s request.

Is there an official Omegle app?
No. Omegle was a website – its homepage even said you did not need an app on your phone – and it closed in November 2023. Apps that use the Omegle name today are not the original service; check the seller on the store page before installing anything.

Are these apps free?
They are free to download. Azar and LivU sell premium features such as filters, and Wakie offers optional premium features; Paltalk and Camfrog are listed as free downloads on the App Store.
Do I need an account?
Expect to sign in on apps. Azar, for example, lists Facebook, Google, a phone number or Apple ID as sign-in options. If you want to start without an account, browser sites that say they need no sign-up – such as Chatroulette or Joingy – are the better fit.
